August Highlights – Kids and Moms Program – Strengthening Family Bonds Through Play

August has flown by in the blink of an eye, and what a fantastic month it has been! As we wrap up the summer, we at Mujeres Omega Foundation are excited to reflect on the incredible moments we’ve shared in our Kids and Moms program. This month, we have celebrated the power of play and learning with a series of engaging and memorable activities.

What We’ve Done:What We’ve Done:

  • Building Bridges with Ice Cream Pallets: We kicked off the month by using ice cream pallets to create imaginative bridges. This fun and interactive activity not only sparked creativity but also introduced the kids to basic engineering concepts.
  • Solve This! Based on Books by Joan Marie Galat: From bubble wrap to bridges, the miracles of engineering are all around us. We explored how engineers dream up new ideas and bring them to life, discovering what happens when things go wrong. Our activities were inspired by “Solve This! Wild and Wacky Challenges for the Genius Engineer in You,” which helped tackle unusual problems and included some writing tips for our young engineers.
  • Creating Electric Circuits: We embarked on an electrifying adventure by making simple electric circuits. The children were thrilled to see their circuits come to life, gaining a deeper understanding of electrical principles in a fun and engaging way.

To Close the Summer:

As we wrap up the summer, we’re excited to end the month with a bang! This Saturday, August 31, 2024, we’ll be making volcanoes at Creators Studio YEG. It’s the perfect finale to our summer activities, combining science and creativity as we explore the fascinating world of volcanic eruptions.

Event Details:

  • Date: Saturday, August 31, 2024
  • Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • Location: Creators Studio YEG, 42-4004 97 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 6N1, Canada
  • Note: This event will be photographed, and by attending, you consent to being featured on our social media channels.

Why Participate:

Participating in Kids and Moms activities not only fosters a stronger bond between parents and children but also supports cognitive, social, and emotional development. It’s a wonderful opportunity to step away from screens, engage in hands-on learning, and make the most of summer.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this August, and we look forward to creating more unforgettable memories with you in the future. For more information and to reserve your spot for our final August event, please contact us at mujeresomegafoundation@gmail.com.

Me parece que las actividades de kids and moms son muy buenas ya que nos permiten aprenderte y pasar tiempo de calidad con nuestros hijos y también de esta forma nuestros hijos descubren sus habilidades

We loved meeting local authors, scientists, and organizations that inspire kids and moms together! To find a welcoming space for women to bond with their kids through fun learning activities while in Spanish is unique and builds community!
