June 23rd marks a significant milestone for Mujeres Omega Foundation as we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day (INWED). This global initiative honors the remarkable achievements of women in engineering while inspiring young girls to explore rewarding careers in this dynamic field.

At Mujeres Omega Foundation, we are committed to fostering a passion for engineering among young girls through our impactful ‘Building Bridges’ program. This initiative aims to break down barriers and empower girls with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in engineering disciplines. Recently, in the spring of 2024, we hosted an inspiring 6-week program right here in Edmonton. Through hands-on activities and workshops facilitated by guest engineers, the girls immersed themselves in the world of engineering. From designing and building structures to exploring renewable energy concepts, each session encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

The ‘Building Bridges’ program not only equips girls with technical proficiency but also cultivates essential soft skills such as teamwork and problem-solving—qualities that are integral to success in any engineering career. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment where girls feel empowered to pursue their aspirations fearlessly.

In addition to our impactful programs, Mujeres Omega Foundation recently had the privilege of sharing our mission and initiatives with CTV News. This interview highlighted our commitment to promoting gender diversity in engineering and showcased the enthusiasm and dedication of our participants.
